Challenge #133 Get your grill on.

Deena here - this week is was my choice for the challenge and with the nice weather slowly heading our way, we are out more, barbequeing and visiting...so I thought I would do a challenge to get your grill on...we are doing a big barbeque tonight for father's day and I thought I could also squeak out a father's day card to cover off both the challenge and the event....so here goes:

Let's see what all the other wonderful poobahs have come up with for this challenge.

Kristen here
I made this card as an invite for our neighbor to come on over and eat some tasty meat with us! I love grilling so much that I even bought an indoor grill for my kitchen. I can grill even when there is two feet of snow outside! It's a huge hit for Father's Day too! We celebrated with my dad last weekend and had ribeye steaks and grilled mushrooms!!! So yummy! We have grilled out 3 times this week!

PS...(Rosemary thinks her dies are un-hip... well then I am UN-HIP too because I LOVE my quickutz dies!!!)

Gini here
I have realised with this challenge that I never ever make food related art, a bit strange seeing as I like food, well don't we all!
So imagine whilst we're sitting on our tartan blankets sipping our Pimms and lemonade and eating a bit of every cake on the picnic table watching the children play nicely, and listening to the birds twittering in the nearby trees our eyes wander up to look at the blue blue sky and see a flock of hot air balloons drifting overhead...

Rosemary here and I pulled out a handy dandy chef stamp and my QuicKutz dies (I know, very very unhip but I still like 'em!) and made a simple card that has a cheeky sense of humor.

Jana here and I have a couple of recipes for you. The first is one that I KNOW you will add to your grilling menu once you try it. This recipe has been in my house for years. I found it, of all places, in a coupon circular in the Sunday paper way back when Hubby and I were first married.

This one I just couldn't keep from you. What's a BBQ without something wonderful to drink.

You have until the end of Saturday 30 June to join in with your fabulous creation celebrating BBQ's, picnics and food. Add your blog post address to Mr Linky below.
If you would like to join in with a previous challenge we've set (life happens and lateness is absolutely fine, we don't mind a bit) just add your blog post address to Mr Linky below. Please make sure your blog post refers to the previous challenge you are entering so we don't get confused.
We look forward to visiting you!

Challenge #132 It's all relative.

Electra here
(I need a drum roll here)
I have FINISHED scrapbooking ALL of my mother's photos, going back as far as 1890.
Are you impressed?
Well you should be.
They fill three, count em THREE albums.
Here is one of the LO's:
I am SO done with vintage.  lol
In honour of family, we hope you'll create something to do (even remotely) with those you love.
Or those you don't love, but are related to.  hah!

Let's see what all the other wonderful poobahs have come up with for this challenge.

Deena here - this is a picture of my husband's grandmother on his father's side.  His dad had this picture of her, but it was folded in the middle (and all the colour had peeled off right across her cheeks and nose) and had some water damage on it so her face was hideous.  My hubby has a friend at work who does wonders with photoshop or some other photo fixing software and he totally fixed this picture right up for us...you can't even tell any of the damage (and let me tell you, the picture was in really rough shape)...the difference is amazing.  We got a few copies made and I did this page in a scrapbook shadow box for my father in law for father's day - rolled all sixty of those flowers myself too (not that he would even know that they were made out of paper)...thought he could hang it up, as this was his favorite picture of his mom and he was soo upset when the photo was damaged.  Hope he likes it.

Rosemary here and I think it is sweet that several of us made layouts for this challenge.  I used a photo of my mom from way back when (okay, about 71 years ago when she was 9).  I loved the story that she told me about this; how she loved the dusty pink and white striped pinafore and a matching blouse.  But what I thought was the cutest part was when I asked her what the pin was that she was wearing she told me how one of her brother's friends, a little boy, was sweet on her and gave her his pin.  I used several patterned papers, lots of girly embellishments, and I handwrote the journaling.

Jana here - Before you see my project for this challenge, I want you to sit down. I didn't sew anything. Not a thing. I actually pulled out my paper and glue and made Father's Day cards. It's coming up you know. Just sayin'.

The last one was made with scraps from the others. I just couldn't resist.

I am now set. I don't have to shop. I don't have to make them. I only hope I can remember where I put them when the time comes...
